DRIFTWORLD
A peaceful open-world driving game with no missions and no timer: just a road, the countryside, and somewhere to go.
- Indie game
- In development
- Three.js, WebGL, Blender, glTF / GLB
Overview
A browser driving game about the drive itself. Stylized low-poly, cozy, matte, with no photorealism.
Technical architecture
Assets are modeled in Blender and exported as GLB for Three.js. Road pieces are standalone and modular so the world can be laid out procedurally.
Design and implementation decisions
- Road modules (a 20 m by 7 m two-lane straight and a 45° left curve with a ~25 m radius) are built to connect seamlessly, with origins and orientation chosen for procedural placement.
- Vehicles ship with separate wheel meshes; wildlife is rigged and animated with named clips such as Deer_Graze or Duck_Swim.
- Every export is validated by re-importing it and loading it through Three.js GLTFLoader.
